Career Development

ACE believes in a philosophy of continuous training for all its employees. We have implemented career development programs at each level of employment, whether it be apprentice programs for our craft workers, supervisory programs for our superintendents and foremen, or management training for our project managers and engineers. As a result, our employees enjoy continuous growth within their chosen field and the financial benefits that accompany that growth.

We assess each employee’s needs on an annual basis, from which we formulate a specific development plan tailored to their individual training needs. The plan will encompass a wide variety of training elements, including industry trade shows, college-level courses, and technical seminars. We place specific emphasis on safety training, including 30-Hour OSHA, CPR & First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Excavation courses.

The construction industry in general has grappled with the challenges of recruiting and developing qualified tradesmen, foremen, and superintendents. In an attempt to meet these challenges, we have designed and implemented formal programs for Project Engineers and Field Supervisors. These programs are based on the concept of combining on-the-job training with outside classroom education.

ACE Project Engineer Academy

In this training program, you will build skills for a long-lasting construction career. You will be immersed in curriculum focusing on specific systems we employ to build successful projects in the public works sector. In addition, this program will enhance your project management capabilities, preparing you for advancement to the next level of construction. You will also learn in-depth management and leaderships skills from outside consultant Fails Management Institute (FMI). Lastly, you will attend trade conventions such as WEFTEC, World of Concrete and ConExpo to network with industry peers, building a professional network that will allow you to work across industry lines to build successful construction projects.

ACE Field Supervisory Academy

Much like the Project Engineer Academy, this training program will build skills needed for a long-lasting career as a construction supervisor. As a college graduate or a mid-level construction supervisor, you will be immersed in curriculum focusing on systems we employ to build water and wastewater projects. This program will also enhance your team building and leadership capabilities, preparing you for advancement to field supervisor. You will also learn in-depth job site management skills from our top Superintendents.  Productivity, staff relations, and customer service are skills you will develop from outside training consultant Fails Management Institute (FMI). Lastly, you will attend trade conventions such as WEFTEC, World of Concrete and ConExpo to network with industry peers, building a professional network that will allow you to work across industry lines to build successful construction projects.

The ACE Field Supervisory Academy takes all of your college classes and previous field knowledge and applies them to the jobsite. You will perfect your skills and manage a jobsite while learning ACE’s “Building to Last” philosophy. While in the field academy, I felt like I was part of the ACE management team from day one.
