Career Development

American Contracting believes in a philosophy of continuous training for all its employees. We have implemented career development programs at each level of employment, whether it be apprentice programs for our craft workers, supervisory programs for our superintendents and foremen, or management training for our project managers and engineers. As a result, our employees enjoy continuous growth within their chosen field, and the financial benefits that accompany it.

We assess each employee’s needs on an annual basis, from which we formulate a specific development plan tailored to their individual training needs. The plan will encompass a wide variety of training elements, including industry trade shows, college level courses, and technical seminars. We place specific emphasis on safety training including 30 Hour OSHA, CPR & First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Excavation courses.

The construction industry in general has grappled with the challenges of recruiting and developing qualified tradesmen, foremen and superintendents. In an attempt to meet these challenges, we have designed and implemented formal programs for Superintendent Training (view PDF brochure) and Apprentice Training (view PDF brochure). These programs are based on the concept of combining on-the-job training with outside classroom education.
