Co-op Program
American Contracting offers a co-op program where current
college students can work full-time for a semester or summer and gain valuable real-life job experience at our construction
company. We have employed co-op engineers from leading engineering programs, including the universities of Pittsburgh,
Maryland, Cincinnati, Viginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. Individuals who are selected to become a part of our Co-op Program
are given the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience. Our objective is to assist our employees develop their
skills and provide them with challenging and rewarding assignments. We provide comprehensive training with a variety
of work assignments.
Each Co-op Engineer will be given assignments in our estimating department and at individual
job sites (not necessarily in this order). Individuals are placed in each work area to give them a broad range of experience.
Due to company needs and requirements, some individuals may work more than one term in a given area.

Estimating Department Co-op: Students will work with the estimating team in the preparation of competitively bid project-cost estimates.
Project Management Co-op: These are on-site location assignments for one of American
Contracting’s many projects around the area. The individual will become part of our construction team and directly
assist project management and field supervision in construction operations. Superintendent Co-op: These assignments are for students
who want to be more involved in the actual construction work being performed on our projects. Our superintendent co-ops
also work at our project jobsites, working directly with our field crews performing the construction. Students receive
real-world, hands-on training from our experienced trademen. This assignment would be a pre-cursor
to our Superintendent-in-Training program which can be viewed in detail on our Career Development page.
