Project Description The Corbalis WTP Solids Dewatering Improvements required the installation and startup of two belt filter presses (BFP’s) for the dewatering of residuals produced at the plant. A new polymer system was included for conditioning of the residuals prior to feed to the BFP’s. A storage hopper equipped with a shaftless screw conveyor was installed below the BFP’s in the truck bay for loading solids into Fairfax Water trucks. Modifications to the building structure, archi-tecture, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems were required to facilitate the above work. Project highlights include: Installation and startup of two Ashbrook 3 meter belt filer presses in existing building Installation and startup of polymer storage, feed, and blending systems Installation of new solids storage hopper and truck loading conveyor Seamless integration of new equipment into plant control system Installation of thickened solids and filtrate DIP piping systems Completion of all work on schedule, under budget, and with no safety incidents
