Project Description:

The City of Manassas has contracted American Contracting to upgrade the Water Treatment Plant's filtering capabilities through the addition of several new chemical storage and feed setups. The goal of the project is to be able to handle the increasing water demand over the next 30 years. American Contracting is on site working on the following:

  • Installation of 6 chemical tanks and 1 carbon silo.
  • 4 existing sedimentation basins renovated and reconfigured to operate with a new sludge-vacuum system.
  • 12 existing filter replacements.
  • Construction of a chemical feed/metering vault to allow for additional feed points and chemical monitoring in effluent water.
  • Replacement of 24 old hydraulic valves with new electric operated valves.
  • Numerous piping, architectural, and safety upgrades.

The Manassas Water Treatment Plant serves the City of Manassas and parts of Prince William County and Manassas park with drinking water.
