The City of Manassas, VA has contracted American Contracting
to upgrade the water treatment plant’s filtering capabilities through the addition of several new chemical storage and
feed setups. The goal of the project is to be able to handle the increasing water demand over the next 30 years.
Project highlights include:
Installation
of six chemical tanks and one carbon silo
Four sedimentation
basins renovated and reconfigured to operate with a new sludge-vacuum system
Twelve existing filter replacements
Construction of a chemical feed/metering vault to allow for additional feed and monitoring points in effluent
water
Replacement of 24 old hydraulic valves with new
electric operated valves
Numerous piping, architectural,
and safety upgrades
The Manassas Water Treatment Plant
serves the City of Manassas, parts of Prince William County and Manassas Park with drinking water.
