Project Description
This project is the first of its kind for Fairfax County to maximize the efficiency of activated sludge in the waste
water treatment by delivering methanol or acetic acid as a supplemental fuel. A new building was built along with the necessary
utilities to store and meter the chemi-cal to the existing activated sludge tanks. Project highlights include: - Over
9,000 LF of welded stainless steel piping
- Construction of a concrete building to house the new chemical system
- A
foam fire suppression system
- Manufacture and installation of three 9,400 gallon stainless steel tanks
- Chemical
metering pumps, piping, valves and instrumentation capable of pumping methanol or acetic acid to an existing waste water treatment
process train
- Explosion proof construction
- Instrumentation and controls to operate the system locally or from
the existing SCADA
