Alexandria Sanitation
Authority planned upgrades that will reduce the amount of nutrients discharged in wastewater effluent to meet environmental
regulations. The SANUP project is estimated
to cost $82 million dollars and be completed in 2014. The first contract for this project is Package A--Supplemental Carbon
Improvements. This work included:
Replacing
the existing two methanol storage tanks and six feed pumps.
Repurposing
two of the four FeCl3 storage tanks in Building L for storage and feed of supplemental carbon.
Repurposing the two NaOH storage tanks in Building L for storage and feed of supplemental
carbon.
Installing additional piping from Buildings
L and M to the Biological Reactor Basins (BRBs) and to the Centrate Pretreatment Facility (CPT).
