Project Description
Renaissance Square Artists' Housing is a green apartment building
in Hyattsville, MD. The building has several water-saving and energy-efficient features to reduce the tenants' utility bills
and environmental footprint. On the roof of this apartment, American Contracting completed a solar hot water heater that
provides hot water for the shared laundry room. American Contracting purchased and installed the evacuated tube solar hot
water heater system from Apricus, an Australian company specializing in solar hot water heating.
Although there
is a considerable capital outlay to initially installing the system, depending on the consumer’s hot water usage, the
tenants can expect a three to five year payback when including available tax credits. The system does not consume any electricity
nor does it pollute. For more information about our renewable energy capabilities please check out our brochure or contact us.
