Project Description

The work to be completed under this Contract shall include labor, materials, and equipment necessary to rehabilitate the Montebello Plant I Underground Filtered Water Reservoir as indicated on the Contract Drawings, Special Provisions, Standard Specifications, and as directed by the Engineer. The reservoir was constructed in the year 1913 and contains two basins, each containing 7.5 million gallons of water, for a total of 15 million gallons. The two basins are separated by a centre wall. Each basin requires extensive structural rehabilitation including chemical grout injection of cracks in the concrete structure, FRP repair on cracked parts of the concrete structure, FRP strengthening, mortar repair on spalled parts of the concrete structure, and 4” and 6” wash water pipeline replacement within the basins.

A comprehensive structural investigation was undertaken in the underground reservoir in November of 2020. Conclusions and recommendations are summarized in a report done by Albrecht Engineering Inc. dated October 27, 2022. The report is located within the Appendices. All work on this project shall conform to the Baltimore City Department of Public Works “SPECIFICATIONS FOR MATERIALS, HIGHWAYS, BRIDGES, UTILITIES, AND INCIDENTAL STRUCTURES” dated 2006 and as amended, the Baltimore City DPW “STANDARD DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION”, the drawings, and the Special Provisions and Specifications this Contract book.
