South Durham WRF Gas Holder Replacement and Treatment Facilities Electrical Improvements
The City of Durham project includes improvements at South Durham Water Reclamation Facility, 6605 Farrington Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, and Brown Water Treatment Plant, 1615 Infinity Road, Durham, NC 27712.
Work at South Durham includes replacing the steel digester gas storage tank with a membrane gas storage system and associated piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls; influent pump station floating-wye improvements; switchboard and circuit-breaker replacements; and electrical re-feed of the gas booster compressor building, including ductbank, wiring, louver and exhaust-fan work.
Brown WTP work includes replacement of 4,160-volt raw-water transfer pump starters, conductors and raceways, electrical ductbanks, earthwork, concrete pads, and curb/gutter modifications. Construction must be coordinated with continued facility operations.
Bids are due November 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern. The virtual pre-bid conference was scheduled for October 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM Eastern, with site tours October 26 at 12:30 PM (South Durham) and 3:00 PM (Brown). Attendance was strongly encouraged.
