What is your favorite environmental impact of Water/Wastewater construction?

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job has been seeing the direct impact our projects have on the communities we serve. Water and wastewater infrastructure often operates behind the scenes, but it plays a critical role in protecting public health and the environment. It is fulfilling to know that the facilities, treatment plants, and pump stations we build help provide clean drinking water and improve the quality of local waterways.

What advice would you give to a person entering the water/wastewater infrastructure construction industry?

Be willing to learn and take advantage of every opportunity to gain experience. The water and wastewater industry is incredibly diverse, and there is always something new to learn, whether it is construction methods, treatment processes, equipment, or emerging technologies. Ask questions, build relationships, and spend time understanding how different parts of a project come together. The people around you are one of the greatest resources for learning.

"I really value connecting with ACE employees whether at the office, on field visits, and at ACE events. This includes meeting interviewees, new hires, bonding with departmental staff, teaching at the Project Engineer Academy, and catching up with another field employee or 20-year employee I have not seen in a while."
